"May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer." Psalm 19:14
This verse was the last one in my devotion this morning. I needed to be reminded of how I am supposed to start my day--by surrendering my words and my thoughts to the Lord. How much pain and frustration could be avoided in my life on a daily basis if I would meditate on this verse in the morning and make it my prayer.
I confess that so often my words and my thoughts are simply reactions to a situation rather than a determined response based on what God says about my life and His plan and desire for me.
If God is really my Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer, then why wouldn't I want Him to have control over my words and my thoughts? I am so thankful for His grace that continues to forgive and cover my sin. He is faithful!

I believe it needs to be a conscious choice to allow the Lord to take control of our words and thoughts. When we react to our feelings, they can take us to places and situations that we will regret. Thank God we serve a Lord who can handle our feelings, but does not want us to let our feelings run our life. As we are confronted daily with situations, some of which cause us to be hurt, angry, or disappointed, we must choose to come close to the Lord and ask him to heal us and comfort us in his arms of love. I find that as I surrender a difficult situation to the Lord and let him be my source of comfort, that he begins to work to repair and restore me to a place of peace. I continue to try to remind myself that no one fills our cup except for the Lord, and to think or want otherwise only leads to disappointment and pain. I pray that I also remember to surrender my thoughts and words to the Lord each day and let him lead my way all day long. His ways are always better than mine. Bless you all.
